Terry Fox

The canadian Terrance Stanley Fox in 1977 was diagnosed with cancer.

He at that time was 19 years old, and he was active in sports. After surgery, he lost his leg. Three years after that, he decided to run across the country from ocean to ocean. The purpose of the run is a fundraiser for cancer research. His race at 5 373 km lasted 143 days, averaging Terry Fox overcame 42 km a day.

However, the disease continued to progress, and he had to go the distance. Soon Terry died before completing his "Marathon of hope". But his campaign has attracted huge attention, and as a result has raised over 24 million dollars. Now in Canada and in more than 50 countries annually running for charity name of Terry Fox.
